International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA) Meetings

The International Tokamak Physics Activity Meeting will be held 23rd – 26th October at the Culham Science Centre, Oxford.

The meeting is organised by the UK Atomic Energy Authority. The role of the ITPA Coordinating Committee is to oversee the Topical Physics Groups in conducting their tasks and to interface the ITPA with the ITER Organization (IO).

We are pleased to offer coach transportation on a first-come, first-served basis for your convenience. The coach pick-up point is as follows:

On Monday, October 23rd, the pick-up time is 7:30 AM.
For the remainder of the week, the pick-up time will be 8:00 AM.

The return time and location remain consistent, with coaches departing at 18:00 daily.

Important Reminders:

To ensure a smooth boarding process, please remember to bring valid photographic ID with you. Passengers without proper ID will not be allowed to board the coach.

On Monday, October 23rd, UKAEA staff will be present at the Oxford coach stop to distribute visitor passes. It is crucial to keep your visitor pass with you and visible at all times while on-site throughout the conference.

Gala dinner arrangements:

The Gala dinner is scheduled for Monday, October 23rd, starting at 7:30 pm and will be held at St. Edmunds Hall, Oxford. Kindly indicate your dietary preferences during the registration process so that we can accommodate everyone’s needs.

FAQs

How do I get to Oxford?

We recommend where-ever you are travelling from that you take public transport. The centre of Oxford has a Zero Emission Zone (ZEZ) and parking is limited. If you are travelling up from London following FEC then you can take a train from Paddington or Marylebone, although check timetables before departing, as Sunday timetables vary and the rail unions have been calling strikes. Please do ask one of the staff at FEC if you are unsure.

Where is the Meeting taking place?

ITPA is talking place at Culham Science Centre, Abingdon, Oxfordshire OX14 3DB
You must be pre-registered for the meeting to access the site at Culham. You will also need to bring a form of must have a meeting pass and a form of photo ID (passport, driving licence).

Is Lunch Included?

During the registration process, you will be asked to purchase lunch. Participants will be provided with a packed lunch, including a sandwich, drink, crisps, fruit, and a chocolate bar. Kindly inform us of any dietary requirements during registration to ensure we can accommodate your needs. Please be aware that if you do not select the lunch option during registration, a lunch will not be provided for you.

There are lots of cafes and restaurants throughout Abingdon, Didcot, and Oxford to suit all tastes. And of course, we’ll have the gala dinner if you are attending.
